New favorite manga releases (and those to be released)

I just read the news that Viz Media finally released the first volume of “Hakushoku to Yousei” (release date: March 6, 2012). Finally Viz! It’s one of those shoujo manga that I really like!
Viz Media, which is infamous for their “too Americanized” manga translations, translated the title to “The Earl and the Fairy.” I guess it’s nothing to buzz about because it really is the translation… I just hope that the translation of the whole manga is not the same as La Corda d’Oro’s (the only Shoujo Beat manga I have as of now).
Anyway, I still haven’t got a copy but I might visit Comic Odyssey anytime this week so I might buy the first volume. I MIGHT buy. I’m still not sure if I will already purchase a copy of the first volume of “The Earl and the Fairy” because I’m putting Tokyopop titles (i.e. Gakuen Alice, Fruits Basket) on my top priority. They might go OOP (well they are already OOP), and when they go OOP their price will definitely go crazily high. So basically it just means that I should buy Tokyopop titles first.
(but I already want a copy of The Earl and the Fairy volume 1!!!! sigh…..)
Volume two of “The Earl and the Fairy will be released this June. I hope I already have volume 1 before that time.
Next manga that will be released soon is Kobato volume 6, the last volume of the series. It will be released this June. Well I still don’t have my volumes 1-5 but it’s just because I still haven’t sent the completion payment to Eiwa Manga Store. They said that the copies I ordered already arrived, and are ready to be shipped. I might get them this week or next week (I’m still having a good time here in the province 
).
The third volume of Gate 7 will be released this July. It’s a title that I buy immediately just days after its release so I hope I won’t break this record.~
Priority titles:
1. Gakuen Alice Volume 16 (still hunting for this rare book… once I find a copy at a reasonable price, I’ll buy it immediately)
2. Gakuen Alice Volumes 10, 11, 14, 15 (will buy these volumes after I pay the completion payment for Kobato volumes 1-5)
3. Fruits Basket volumes I still don’t have (I want to buy these books at a cheap price, so I guess I don’t prioritize them much)
4. Cardcaptor Sakura omnibus 2 (will buy this book after I complete my Gakuen Alice manga–volumes 1-15; volume 16 I’ll definitely buy you~)
5. The Earl and the Fairy volume 1 (will buy this before the release of the 2nd volume)

Artbook spine
Since I’ve been blabbing about ‘artbooks’ on my previous feature post, I’ve decided to push through with this merchandise post highlighting two of the best items in my entire manganime collection: Cardcaptor Sakura Illustrations Collection 1 and 2 (Japanese).
The Artbooks (I added a volume of Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle on the photo for scale)
I got these artbooks as a birthday gift for myself just last month (September 2, as I am a Virgo, if you read the AlyssaMihara widget on the left ^_^ ). I found these items at an advertisement in Sulitand I didn’t hesitate to buy them even once. It’s a really nice deal I had. The artbooks are pretty cheap for items in very good condition, knowing that they were published years ago. The seller even added ten Cardcaptor Sakura collectible cards (five for each artbook) in the package. Plus, I got a discount because I’m a sulit member ^_^. It was a really good bargain ^_^.

I really like artbooks in original Japanese because the paper used is better and the colors follow more of the artist’s original color. The only con I can name is that I can’t understand the texts since I can’t read Japanese o_O. But I don’t worry much about that because unlike manga, artbooks are more of the illustrations rather than story.

Anyway, as I always say, these two Cardcaptor Sakura illustrations collection features the splash pages of the manga. One can get to see CLAMP’s original beautiful illustrations in full color (well, Dark Horse’s CCS omnibus features the splash pages in full color too). There are also additional CLAMP CCS drawings that were artbook originals, and each artbook has a bonus Cardcaptor Sakura manga story.

One of the thousand things these artbooks did to me? They made me crave for the third Cardcaptor Sakura illustrations collection! I’m still hunting for that particular artbook online…

I haven’t been into anime recently, but more into the manga! Not just the online manga scans, but the solid manga itself! Thanks to my beloved BookSale, I’m able to buy mangas at really low prices. Wiih!
Titles I bought the past month? Tsubasa Rervoir Chronicle vol. 25 and 26, xxxHolic and Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle Character Guide (not exactly mangas), Shugo Chara vol. 8, and Kitchen Princess vol. 2 and 8.

I was introduced with Shugo Chara a loong time ago, but vol. 8 is where I started. And it’s volume 8, not even the first volume. Nevertheless, the Mahou Shoujo makes it all ^_^ Go Amu!

I’m a Tadase-Amu shipper by the way. Tadase is really cute! And I don’t very much like snobs like Ikuto… same reason why I don’t like Len of La Corda d’Oro 
. (Don’t hate me, Ikuto-Amu shippers! ^_^ I’m just a fellow shoujo-otaku here )

Kero-chan!!!! Wiiih! And he’s my first plushie too!!
I’ve always wanted Kero-chan, and now I have him by my side everynight hahahahaha
I bought him last July 21 (should’ve been called a ‘Hell Day’ because of our Math17 Departmental Exam but it turned out to be a really good day because of Kero-chan ) at your favorite anime store, Comic Alley ^_^
Next plushie target? The two Mokonas!! I’ll have them on sale! (the clerk told me they will have a sale on August 12 — yes, I’ve marked my calendar — buy one take one, hitting two Mokanas with one stone *ouch, that hurts.* I mean, getting two Mokonas with only 680Php! )

Kobato won an alligator!
I know June isn’t over yet, I still have three more days to acquire more anime items, but for a month, three volumes of manga and a sakura bento bag is enough for me! ^_^
I was really surprised to see DelRay manga being sold in Booksale. Before, the only manga they sell are published by Tokyopop, but oh, thanks! they now have DelRay!!
They have lots of titles I want to buy, like Negima! and Kitchen Princess, but those manga can wait. Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle and xxxHolic? CANNOT WAIT!
June 2011 Anime Haul!
I was like, ‘wee! wee! Tsubasa volume 23 and 24!!!!! and xxxHolic vol. 14! I can’t find those in National Bookstore! And I found them in Booksale!
It was a good thing that the black pen mark on the Tokyopop mangas are no longer in the DelRay mangas. Yippee! Another Yay! This is the only flaw.
And!!!!!! Another find! A Sakura Bento Bag I bought from Japan Home Center! Not onlyh can I use this, but it’s also Sakura!!!!!!!!!! Honestly, this is my first Cherry Blossom-designed item ^_^.

Two years in WordPress!
Just to clear things up, my wordpress blogging anniversary is actually April, but I wasn’t able to celebrate it last month so I’m using my May time for the partying ^_^. I guess I’ll do the celebration every April 1 next time – it’s Sakura’s birthday and it’s the time when most cherry blossoms are in bloom – a perfect time for hanami ^_^.
I remember myself being a newbie blogger, that was two years ago… I have no idea how to post stuff, all I know is that I want the topic to be about ANIME.
And behold… after two years of different headers, blog themes, and blog titles, ranshinkawaii.wordpress.com is still being managed by AlyssaMihara (that’s me ^_^), still about anime, and still counting blog hits.
To ‘celebrate’ my 2nd wordpress anniversary, I edited my About page for the better. I guess it IS better now — I won’t be renovating it again for a couple of months since I really liked the outcome of the page. I also somehow changed this blog’s header, though if you guys noticed, the image is still the same, Haruhi Suzumiya pointing and winking at us ^_^.
As for my posting style, I guess that’s one thing that always changes, so I can’t promise having one constant style. But I’m thinking of writing a ‘story-telling’ post about one episode in La Corda d’Oro… I really loved that anime the first time I watched it and I can say that I’m currently addicted to it ^_^. So be sure to look forward to that particular post ^_^.

About anime merchandise… one year did give me time to acquire more anime items. If before, the only items I got are a couple of (1) Otakuzine and (2) OtakuVault magazines, (3) six volumes of Suikoden III manga, (4) Sakura Cards, (5) Pichi Pichi Pitch stickers (the first anime item I got – acquired it four years ago, 2007, for only 10Php ^_^), and (6) some of my remaining Detective Conan merchandise: IMAGE1

Manga, Manga, Manga, and more MANGA ^_^
One thing I don’t like about setting my anime merchandise like this is that it makes me realize that I have very few items in my ‘collection’, compared to those collectors whose rooms are filled with everything anime ^_^. Not that I want my room to be filled with anime, but there are certain items I want to have.
I’m really picky in buying anime. Since I don’t have much cash to afford all those anime items, I carefully plan my wishlist, then rank my priority items, and think whether I’ll have fun buying a certain item or I’ll regret buying it afterwards.
Now if you noticed, most of the stuff I have are reading materials. Even the items I bought last year (April 2010-April2011)are mostly manga. It’s just because manga never go out of trend, and when I’m off from the television or computer, the manga are always there to again tell you the story.
Disappointment with Otakuzine
As for the magazines, I already told myself I’m not buying any of the issues again. Otakuzine and OtakuVault have already forgotten that the magazine is supposed to be a good reading material, not just some paper with a couple of images and few paragraphs of text. Their first 30 issues are great, the next are fine, but I get more and more disappointed with every new issue that they release. It’s as if they are saving ink, they don’t have images that fill the whole page anymore. And the really interesting words they have before have gotten boring – it’s like they didn’t even think of good paragraphs to write. So, I’ll be using my Otakuzine budget in buying more manga.
Sigh… enough of the criticism now ^_^

My Cardcaptor Sakura Omnibus, Volume 1

Who’d have thought that I’ll have my own copy of Dark Horse Manga’s version of Cardcaptor Sakura manga Omnibus? If before, I was only looking at it in Amazon.com, now I have my own to put in my Manga Drawer! ^_^
Cardcaptor Sakura Omnibus, Vol. 1 - with other CLAMP manga
For the reviews, Clamp News have their own review on this Omnibus… but I guess I’ll have my own:
Wow! It’s my first time to have a shoujo manga! (what is RG Veda’s genre?) And I’m loving the pink cover of this Cardcaptor Sakura Omnibus! Dark Horse did great using a Sakura flower for the volume number… I really like their idea ^_^. Even the ‘Cardcaptor Sakura’ lettering is really cute ^_^.
The cover is very smooth — I think there’s no need to cover the book in plastic, yet I think I’ll still do because the corners of the book keep on folding while I’m reading it.
Now, compared with the DelRey’s Omnibuses (which I don’t have ), this omnibus has a good book-binding. You’ll never be anxious that you might crease the spine of the book while reading.
The Omnibus contains lots of colored pages too, which I definitely like ^_^.
The only thing I don’t like about it is that it’s very heavy… I actually had a hard time carrying it while strolling around the mall (since I bought it early). I also get tired of holding the book while reading — very heavy.
To be honest, this is my first time to read the Cardcaptor Sakura manga. It was only in reading it that I realized that the anime is REALLY different from the manga. Nevertheless, I like both versions. Nothing to say like, “I like this better.” The story was kept intact in the anime… I can’t really say what the differences are… but you’ll know what I mean once you read the manga.
Enough of the reviews and babbles… All I can say is that… I’M LOVING THIS! Can’t wait to have the Omnibus Vol. 2! ^_^
