Gakuen Alice – First impresions

I said in my previous post that I’m currently watching Yumeiro Patissiere. But after episode 7 I decided that I’ll have Gakuen Alice first… I’m really pretty confusing
Anyway, the Gakuen Alice or Alice Academy anime was long finished with 26 episodes. The manga is still ongoing, though. I don’t know exactly what came into me that I’m watching an anime whose manga is still not finished, but anyway, this is shoujo so I better watch it
Best friends Mikan and Hotaru grew up in a small town in the remote countryside. When Hotaru moves to a school for geniuses in Tokyo, Mikan misses Hotaru so badly that she decides to travel to Tokyo herself to find Hotaru. She finds Hotaru in a school called “Alice Academy,” and finds that the school is actually for people with special powers called “Alices.” Narumi-sensei, a teacher at the school, discovers that Mikan also happens to have an Alice, and Mikan is admitted into the academy. Mikan meets a boy, Natsume with a fire alice and instantly becomes rivals with him, but she gradually befriends him and eventually falls in love with him. She also befriends his best friend, Ruka . Natsume and Ruca gradually fall in love with Mikan. There she finds friends, love, and a life that she will never forget. However, during that time, Mikan and her friends find out that the academy is really built on both secrets and lies.
I find Mikan Sakura quite annoying at some times – I mean she’s so loud. But I learned to like her as the episodes went on. Anyway, the anime is awfully harsh on the 10-year old girl. I would accept how rude the world is to the heroine if she’s about 14 or older, but to a 10-year old girl? That’s really harsh. She attends Gakuen Academy, and will never be able to go home again to see her grandfather, there are so many students who don’t like her (bitches are part of shoujo manganime, I know, even the Cardcaptor Sakura anime has Mei Ling), her Alice is, uh, first described as good-for-nothing, her best friend Hotaru is quite a bully, and Natsume is so cold.
Speaking of, Natsume is pretty good-looking and I kind of like him. He reminded me of Syaoran Li, first introduced as Sakura Kinomoto’s rival, as how Natsume’s Alice didn’t work on Mikan. But I think it would be better if Natsume has some stupid side… Syaoran has this side with his attraction towards Yukito (hehehe
)
I also like the love story. Well, I actually haven’t reached that part but I know that there will soon be, seeing how Mikan and Natsume met. Natsume is quite a bully ^_^
I’m really curious about those Alices. I wonder why they named it ‘Alice’? Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland is my favorite book (#RANDOM).
Anyway, as I have said, 10-year old girls remind me of Sakura Kinomoto. Mikan Sakura is 10 years old too, and I can’t help but compare those two. But I learned not to because of several reasons.
That’s all for the first impressions, I’ll add a Gakuen Alice review if fate won’t make me lazy after I watch all 26 episodes ^_^

Watching Yumeiro Patissierre

Vacation at last! And the best thing to do? Watch anime!
Okay so I started off with Yumeiro Patissiere because I find it cuter than Gakuen Alice
)
14-year-old Ichigo Amano is clumsy and doesn’t have any talent except for eating sweets (specifically cakes). When she stumbles upon a Sweets Festival, she meets Henri-sensei who acknowledges her ability of taste and invites her to transfer to St. Marie Academy to become a pâtissière. Ichigo has trouble adjusting initially, but with the help of the 3 Sweets Princes and the Sweets Spirits, she gains the confidence and skill to work towards becoming a pâtissière.
A shoujo anime! With cute colors and big eyes ^_^ I love anime girls with BIG eyes
)
Anyway, for first impressions, this anime reminds me of Kitchen Princess because of those ‘making sweets’ thingies. The Sweet Fairies remind me of Zodiac P.I., though I remembered the characters in Shugo Chara too.
Maria has some Yumeiro Patissiere episode reviews ^_^ Check it out! ^_^
I’ve watched only until episode 7, and I have more watching to do. See you on my next anime review ^_^
