At first, we saw Lelouch Lemperouge as a student of Aschford Academy, a school in Area 11 (Japan) exclusive only for Britannians. But unbeknownst to all, Lelouch is actually a son of the emperor of Britannia, making him a prince. It was later told in the series that his father had executed him and his sister Nunally to Japan after their mother, Marianne, died.
One day, rebels attacked, and Lelouch was caught in the process. Believing that he is going to die, Lelouch had lost hope until a mysterious woman* (C.C) bestowed some extraordinary magic upon him (Geass). With the Geass, which has the power to manipulate a person’s actions by looking at him directly in the eye, Lelouch managed to escape the Britannian soldiers. He then fought Prince Clovis, in which he won easily. This marked the start of Lelouch’s team-up with the rebels.
*familiar with that mysterious woman? See Tales of the Abyss (review). It sounds like the mysterious woman Tear Grants!
I actually didn’t intend to watch this mecha shounen series, but my classmates’ influence made me watch Code Geass. Maybe the best thing about this anime is the little history that is said to be learned while watching it (did I REALLY learn something??), the Geass (magic!) and the chess games. Nevertheless, I saw what I expected in this anime, so I guess that watching it was worth it.
For fans of mecha-related anime, perhaps Code Geass is one of my top-listed recommendations (although I know that you have already watched this). Of course, those who love romance comedy anime might also like this because of the little love story involved.
STORY :
With those gigantic Knightmares and powerful Geass, there is no doubt that this anime will be loved by otakus that are fans of different genres.
Code Geass is said to be an ‘all-in-one’ anime (I can’t help but agree). From action, to romance, friendship, family, politics, school, fantasy, comedy…what else can you ask for?
As for the whole of the story, the thing that I truly love is the sudden change of events and twisting of situations. SPOILER ALLERT FOR NEXT LINE!! In R2, who’ll ever think that Nunally is still alive?? As for Villetta Nu, she became Lelouch’s teacher?? And who will ever forget that hanging incident in R1’s ending?? It really made viewers impatient of the second season. Now that’s the pro of Code Geass. (Ang galing nilang mambitin…grabeh!!)
Rating: 4.5
GRAPHICS :
The colors aren’t bad, but the con that I can name in Code Geass’ drawing is the very tall and skinny drawing of the characters:
Rating: 3.8
CHARACTERS :
Another pro in Code Geass: equal distribution of positive and negative personalities among the characters. At first, you’ll like Lelouch, but once that you’re currently watching R2, you’ll have doubts whether you like his personality or not because of his shocking decisions. This also goes with the other characters like Suzaku.
For my favorite character, it’s gonna be Kallen (in terms of personality). I love her determination! For beauty, I love the green-haired C.C.
Rating: 4.8
MUSIC :
I love the Opening and Ending Songs! I listen to it again and again, and I didn’t skip those themes while I was watching Code Geass.
FLOW’s ‘Colors’ and ‘World End’ are the likes of fans. Orange Range also shared their songs for this series.
As for the character image songs, I love Yukana’s (C.C.) Reincarnation. It really goes with C.C.’s personality!
Also, the background music is convincing. (You’ll cry once you hear the background song played during Rolo’s death T_T)
Rating: 4.8
DUB :
Those who are fans of Special A might also love Code Geass because Jun Fukuyama and Yuko Goto shared their voice for Lelouch and Anya’s character.
And for Yukana’s fans (like me!!), hail! because she is also here in Code Geass, as C.C.’s seiyuu!
Because of Yukana…hee hee hee…I’ll give Code Geass ~Lelouch of the Rebellion~ a score of 4.8!!
All in all rating: 4.54!!
